AFTER BURA

After Bura is a highly physical dance work bringing together the memories of ten survivors of a shipwreck on the Adriatic coast.

Performed on a wet surface, with bodies equally exposed to water and instability, the piece unfolds under conditions that intensify balance and risk. The musicality of the work is generated live through the performers’ breathing. Inhalations and exhalations form a precise sonic structure, with breath and movement strictly synchronized. This produces a continuous, embodied rhythm in which sound and motion are inseparable.

Structured by a rigorous mathematical score, the choreography is built on repetition and gradual variation, unfolding through an additive process reminiscent of minimalist composition in the lineage of Philip Glass. Patterns accumulate and transform over time, creating a dense and evolving landscape.

After Bura proposes a system where physical intensity becomes both the medium and the form of the work.
